Qual è il ruolo dell’arte in relazione alla società di oggi e alle sue trasformazioni? Un progetto artistico può costituire uno strumento ai fini della lettura del presente, in che senso e per chi?
L’incontro Milano indipendente è un’occasione per discutere, riflettere e dibattere questi temi con alcune giovani realtà artistiche indipendenti operanti a Milano. Si tratta di organizzazioni o gruppi informali che in questi ultimi anni hanno espresso un evidente implemento: una moltitudine di luoghi fisici autogestiti, piattaforme di confronto e relazione senza uno spazio fisso, collettivi artistici e curatoriali che rivendicano notevole autonomia dalle griglie del sistema tradizionale dell’arte, creando strutture indipendenti più o meno complesse.
Partecipano a Milano Indipendente: Boîte, Brown Project Space, Carrozzeria Margot, Lucie Fontaine, Mars, Radical Intention, Sottobosco, that’s contemporary, Visual Container. Introducono Gennaro Castellano e Gabi Scardi. Modera Francesca Guerisoli.
L’incontro rilancia, allargando la piattaforma di partecipazione, alcuni temi sviluppati nella sezione “Milano Indipendendente” del volume Pratica al Plurale, a cura di Gennaro Castellano e Gabi Scardi (Officine Librarie, 2012). La sezione, coordinata da Elisa Legnani e Federica Santulli, coinvolge nel dibattito alcune tra le realtà invitate all’incontro, ritenute interessanti per l’originale approccio al sistema dell’arte, per la gestione indipendente e per le modalità attraverso cui dialogano con il sistema di riferimento e con la società.

“Just a provocation or a further will to investigate what’s not on the ordinary agenda: is it possible for videoart to address a topic such as “signing out” and “deconnecting” when everything now, art included, seems ultimately connected within and cast into the very same socio-political-ethical web that wraps our daily life?
Of course, the answer is yes: it is still possible, or better it is rather urgent! Videoart once again defilides from the mass acts, facts and thoughts and all relevant chains they’re linked to and try to propose a voice out of the choir, a will to get ourselves free from all connections, expectations and associations that rule our daily living.”

Solo una provocazione o piuttosto un’ulteriore volontà di indagare quello che non è nell’usuale ordine delle cose: è possibile per la videoarte dare spazio ad un argomento come “esci” o “sconnettiti” quando oggi tutto, inclusa l’arte, sembra essere inevitabilmente interconnesso e inserito nella stessa rete socio-politco-etica che ingabbia le nostre vite quotidiane?
Ovviamente la risposta è sì: sì, è possibile, o meglio, è pure abbastanza urgente! Ancora una volta la videoarte si defila dagli atti, fatti e pensieri di massa e dalle relative catene cui questi sono ancorati e cerca di proporre una voce fuori dal coro, un’intenzione di liberarci da tutte le connessioni, aspettative ed associazioni che regolano la nostra vita di ogni giorno.
