Visualcontainer ETS is a research, promotion and diffusion centre for Italian and international experimental video art, founded in Milan in 2008 and directed by Alessandra Arnò and Paolo Simoni.
The only Italian hub to collaborate continuously at an international level with festivals, museums, biennials and universities in over 30 countries, Visualcontainer develops curatorial projects, exhibitions, educational programmes and distribution activities.
A Philosophy of Care
Visualcontainer was born from a deep commitment to experimental video art as an artistic and research practice. Over nearly two decades of activity, it has developed a unique expertise in contemporary art — building fruitful collaborations with institutions, festivals, curators and artists worldwide, and promoting outreach projects for the diffusion and valorisation of Italian and international video art.
Independence and Curatorial Freedom
Visualcontainer operates in full curatorial and cultural freedom. It draws on the support of its association members and the international network of partners built over time — an independent structure that allows working at a high cultural level with emerging and mid-career artists.
Our Projects
Distribution — The most extensive Italian catalogue of experimental video art: 94 artists, over 200 works distributed worldwide.
Panoramica — An annual programme dedicated to contemporary Italian video art. A curatorial research and selection project that, since 2021, maps national video production.
VisualcontainerTV — An international web TV dedicated to experimental video art. Works are treated as such — not as entertainment content.
Visualcontainer [.BOX] — An exhibition space in Milan dedicated to video art and video installations.
