Curatorial Statement
Al giorno d'oggi l' Internet potrebbe avere un ruolo fondamentale nei nostri rapporti . Basti considerare il modo in cui i social network hanno cambiato il nostro rapporto con gli altri, vicini e lontani . Abbiamo iniziato ad aggirarci nelle nostre rap-presentazioni digitali ? Sono volti e corpi non più all'ordine del giorno? I video artisti cercano di rispondere alla domanda , indagando il proprio io fisico in tutte i suoi aspetti emotivi , sociali e di fatto e permettendogli di circolare attraverso il mondo digitale . Questa mescolanza di dimensioni potrebbe dare un miglior equilibrio a ciò che siamo?

Il Festival VideoBabel è un progetto con un respiro internazionale , fondato nel 2009 dal dottor Jorge Mora Fernández , Spagna ( www.drjorgemora.com ) , e con sede nella città di Cusco, Perù . E' un progetto incentrato sulla democratizzazione , la diffusione e la promozione della cultura audiovisiva e digitale in Perù e di altre regioni del mondo . Più di 500 opere audiovisive provenienti da paesi diversi hanno partecipato a tre eventi annuali tenuti dal 2010. Nel 2012 il festival ha visto la partecipazione di 252 video . Un totale di 9 premi in denaro sono stati assegnati da una giuria internazionale di produttori di film peruviani e stranieri, in diverse categorie.
L' evento 2013, il festival sarà focalizzato sui linguaggi espressivi innovativi e comprende la video arte e la produzione audiovisiva sperimentale . Il concorso è aperto a tutti coloro che desiderano partecipare ed è orientato verso gli artisti del Perù edell' America Latina , questa collaborazione e scambio è stato sviluppato con le organizzazioni che condividono i nostri obiettivi in diverse regioni del mondo . L'obiettivo principale di questo programma è , da un lato , di fornire una piattaforma internazionale più ampio per la diffusione della produzione audiovisiva peruviana e latinoamericana , e di mostrare in Perù le ultime realizzazioni e sperimentazioni dalle altre parti del mondo.

Al giorno d'oggi l' Internet potrebbe avere un ruolo fondamentale nei nostri rapporti . Basti considerare il modo in cui i social network hanno cambiato il nostro rapporto con gli altri, vicini e lontani . Abbiamo iniziato ad aggirarci nelle nostre rap-presentazioni digitali ? Sono volti e corpi non più all'ordine del giorno? I video artisti cercano di rispondere alla domanda , indagando il proprio io fisico in tutte i suoi aspetti emotivi , sociali e di fatto e permettendogli di circolare attraverso il mondo digitale . Questa mescolanza di dimensioni potrebbe dare un miglior equilibrio a ciò che siamo?

Curatorial Statement
Nowadays the Internet might be playing the major part in our relationships. Let us just consider the way the social networks have changed our connecting to the others near and far. Have we started turning into our digital (re)presentations? Are faces and bodies not on the agenda anymore? Videoartists try to answer the question by investigating our external, physical self in all the emotional, social and factual performance and letting it circulate through the digital realm. Does such an intercross of the two dimensions provide the best balance of what we are now?

The VideoBabel Festival is a project with an international reach, founded in 2009 by Dr. Jorge Mora Fernández, Spain (www.drjorgemora.com), and based in the city of Cusco, Peru. It is a project focused upon the democratization, dissemination and promotion of audiovisual and digital culture in Peru and other regions of the world. More than 500 audiovisual works from different countries have participated in the three annual events held since 2010. In 2012 the festival attracted the participation of 252 videos. A total of 9 cash prizes were awarded by an international jury to Peruvian and foreign film makers in different categories.
Beginning with the 2013 event, the festival will be focused upon innovative expressive languages and include video art and experimental audiovisual production. While the competition is open to all those who wish to take part and is oriented towards artists in Peru and Latin America, a collaboration and exchange program is being developed with events and organizations that share our objectives in different regions around the world. The main goal of this program is, on the one hand, to provide a broader international platform for the diffusion of Peruvian and Latin American audiovisual production, and, on the other hand, to showcase in Peru the latest achievements and experiments to emerge from other parts of the world.
